Purpose

The Council on Active Transportation addresses issues related to bicycle, pedestrian, and other active transportation modes, including non-motorized access to the multi-modal network. The Council provides input on related policy issues and cross-cutting/multi-modal issues to the Transportation Policy Forum.  The Council provides direction and assignments to the committees related to active transportation, and reviews and approves applicable technical documents on behalf of the association. The Council promotes and encourages technology and knowledge transfer by member states, and makes recommendations regarding needed research.  The Council reviews and provides input on proposed federal policies of national concern, and identifies key policy areas for review and discussion by the Transportation Policy Forum.
